Garage Floor Coatings Built for Connecticut Garages

Bare concrete has a rough life in Connecticut. Salt brine and slush drip off your car all winter, freeze-thaw cycles pop the surface, oil and hot tires stain it, and the dust never stops. Hartford Garage Epoxy installs professional flake epoxy and polyaspartic coatings that seal the slab, clean up with a mop and look sharp for years.

Every floor starts the same way: we measure, check moisture, diamond-grind and repair the concrete, then build the coating in layers. Good prep is the difference between a floor that lasts and one that peels — it's where we spend our time.

Why Coat Your Garage Floor?

  • Stops salt damage before it starts. Sealed concrete doesn't soak up brine the way bare slabs do.
  • Cleans in minutes. Oil, slush and sawdust wipe up instead of staining.
  • No more concrete dust tracked into the house.
  • Brighter space. A light flake floor bounces light around a dim garage.
  • Better footing than bare painted concrete, especially with flake texture.

What Does a Garage Floor Coating Cost?

Typical installed ranges in our area: solid-color epoxy about $3–$6/sq ft, flake epoxy $5–$9/sq ft, polyaspartic flake $6–$10/sq ft and metallic $7–$12/sq ft. A typical two-car garage often lands around $2,500–$4,800.

Heavy cracking, salt pitting or an old coating to remove can add to that — which is why we quote after seeing the floor.

Garage Floor Epoxy FAQ

How much does it cost to epoxy a garage floor in Connecticut?

Most professionally installed garage floors in the Hartford and New Haven areas land between about $3 and $10 per square foot depending on the system. A typical two-car garage of 400–480 sq ft often runs roughly $2,500–$4,800 for a flake system. Slab condition and repairs move the number most, so we quote after measuring.

Will an epoxy floor hold up to Connecticut road salt?

A properly adhered, fully cured coating gives salty slush a sealed, non-porous surface to sit on instead of bare concrete, which can pit and scale as salt and freeze-thaw cycles work into it. Salt residue still needs rinsing now and then, and a flake texture helps footing when the floor is wet.

Epoxy or polyaspartic — which should I get?

Epoxy is a strong, budget-friendly base and works well in moderate temperatures. Polyaspartic cures much faster, generally tolerates colder installs and resists yellowing from sunlight. Many systems combine them: an epoxy or polyaspartic base, broadcast flake, and a polyaspartic clear topcoat. We'll recommend one after seeing your slab.

How long before I can park in the garage?

It depends on the products and the temperature. Foot traffic is often fine within about a day. For vehicles, plan on several days with many epoxy topcoats and less with fast-curing polyaspartic systems. We'll give you specific timing for your floor before we start.

Do you grind the concrete or acid-etch it?

We plan every job around mechanical prep — diamond grinding with dust extraction — because coatings need an open, clean surface to grip. Acid etching is common in DIY kits but doesn't remove sealers or weak surface layers well, and poor prep is the most common reason garage coatings peel.
